Tatty Macleod: Fugue

Despite being achingly chic, comedian Tatty Macleod, who grew up in France is not actually French! In fact, Macleod is British. Comedy seems to be something that draws a lot of us third-culture kids in, probably because growing up abroad gives you a unique perspective and understanding on both your motherland and adopted country.

But Macleod finds herself in no man’s land, she’s not quite French enough to pass in Paris yet not quite English enough to live in London (did I mention the chicness?). Neither culture is safe from having their country’s stereotypes mined to the fullest by Macleod, sending up French Fuck-boys has brought her huge success on TikTok and if any fans are in she definitely gives them what they want.

This is, however, woven in with the pitfalls of not feeling as though you quite belong anywhere. There is clearly a lot more to Macleod than funny French and English impressions. A confident and smart performer, who is able to access interesting points of what actually is identity.

Tatty Macleod seems to often be lumped in with TikTokers who have travelled to the Fringe to prove they can perform live. However, this is unfair as Macleod is already well-established on the live circuit and made it to the 2022 Funny Women Awards final. Surely now I think Macleod has earned her comedy stripes, where she undoubtedly belongs.
