2019 Funny Women Awards finalist Liz Guterbock emanates sweetness throughout her Edinburgh debut Geriatric Millennial with added LA charm.
A classic autobiographical debut, sold under the banner of the elder Millennial experience, Guterbock is clearly an expert performer. At 41 Guterbock is on the cusp of being a Millennial, a weird generation to be part of, as she explains. We are up to date on our tech, but when we say we remember dial up we could be referring to internet connection or phones. This makes Millennials a bridging generation who can be at home with Boomers (we have to be, we can’t afford our own homes) just as much as we can be with Gen X and Z.
With a host of characters integrated into her show, such as her Mum, English, and LA stereotypes Guterbock doesn’t miss an opportunity to display her impeccable ability for mimicry. It must have been a challenge writing a show about a generation nobody likes, but Guterbock has risen to the occasion.
