2021 Funny Women Awards winner Lara Ricote and Sikisa have each won this year’s £500 bursaries, as provided to women and non-binary acts debuting at Edinburgh Fringe by London’s 99 club.
Lara was in good company at this year’s showcase, with Awards alumni Ania Magliano, Lily Phillips and Sian Davies also performing and winning £100 each from the bursary.
Judges at the showcase were agents Hannah Martin from PBJ Management, podcaster and Ebdon Management’s Poppy Hillstead, 99 Club owner James Woroniecki, and Chortle editor Steve Bennett
The 99 club said: “We at are lucky to have a regular roster of brilliant female and non-binary comedians, and are excited to work with many more. We are eager to support emerging talent, and are honoured to provide a foundation for this vital artistic development.”
