It seems comic Catherine Tate has been very busy lately, in addition to The Nan Movie, the former Doctor Who assistant has a new show coming out this April called Hard Cell.
The documentary-style comedy is set in the fictional female prison, HMP Woldsley and was not only written and created by Tate but also stars her as multiple characters.
These range from Laura Willis, the governor who believes creativity will lead to rehabilitation, Marco, the Essex boy prison guard, to Big Viv, the psychopath lifer among others. Set over a six-week period the mockumentary follows the inmates as they rehearse a musical directed by ex-EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison.
During rehearsals the mismatched collection of women will find their voices, grow in confidence and strengthen their friendships. The show promises to be as moving as it is funny.
Hard Cell will be available to stream on Netflix from 12th April.
