Funny Women

Comedians aren’t just at risk of cabin fever during this time of social distancing and self-isolation, gig cancellations have meant not just loss of earnings but also fewer chances to try out new material or build audiences. However, being a creative lot, comedians have been flexing their comedy muscles online, using YouTube, Twitch, Twitter and other sites to connect with audiences, new and established alike. To help you get your comedy fix, every week we’ll be putting together a list of projects we’ve spotted online by funny women…

Comedian Juliette Burton has a new audio comedy series Sweet Dreams which centres on Sylvia, who lives with her boyfriend, Ryan. An anxious soul, Sylvia has a new book to help her fall asleep. In her dreams, her subconscious takes her on what could be an adventure of self-discovery or a ridiculous series of events. Can she learn anything before she wakes up? The series co-stars fellow comedians Matthew Crosby, Sooz Kempner, Rob Frimston and Angus Dunican. New episodes are released every Thursday, to listen and subscribe click here!

Confidence for Breakfast is comedian Mel Judson’s new podcast in which she addresses confidence, self-help, motivation and inspiration with real life stories from guests such as comedian Daliso Chaponda, public speaking coach Carol Plant, alcohol therapist and poet Jem Stuart and more. You can listen and subscribe here!

The Radio Point podcast network has just premiered Ruined, a new weekly horror movie comedy podcast hosted by Alison Leiby and Halle Kiefer.
Alison is absolutely terrified of horror movies but also dying to know the twist at the end of them, so she usually reads the spoilers online to get all of the info with none of the terror. Halle is a horror movie aficionado dating back to childhood. Each Ruined episode features Halle giving the play-by-play of a popular, classic and/or extremely trashy horror movie to Alison, with the pair adding their own hilarious commentary, offering their personal insights and, at the end, weighing in on whether scaredy-cats can actually watch the movie scream-free or if they are right to skip the scares and head right to the online synopsis. New episodes every Tuesday!

We will be back next week with more projects, you can tweet us @funnywomen or contact us on Facebook if you have a project you want us to share… Check out last week’s picks here!

November Gig Guide

The evenings are getting darker, the temperatures chillier, the fireworks are exploding a fraction too close in the park, and those early Christmas tree decorators are bursting at the seams, which can only mean one thing: November.
