It has been announced that this year’s Women in Comedy Festival, an organisation we at Funny Women have loved being involved with, will no longer take place this October.
The festival released a statement today saying: “It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the 8th annual Women in Comedy Festival will be cancelled. With Greater Manchester still on a localised lockdown preventing indoor performances, it is impossible for us to plan a festival and make the necessary investment in such a short period of time, especially when there is so much uncertainty. We will however put all of our energy into next year where we will bring it back bigger and better than ever. In the meantime, we will be planning some one-off events/initiatives over the next 12 months so we can continue championing and supporting women in comedy.”
We look forward to the festival returning in 2021.
