We are delighted to announce that Vicki Pepperdine is the head judge for this year’s Funny Women Comedy Writing Award!

Comedy actor and writer Vicki Pepperdine has led an enviable comedy career, having co-written and starred in the award-winning BBC Four sitcom Getting On with Joanna Scanlan and Funny Women ‘Matron’ Jo Brand, as well as starring in Up the Women, The Windsors, Camping and many more excellent TV and radio comedies. Not to mention her podcast Dear Joan and Jericha which she hosts with Julia Davis as two straight-talking agony aunts.

Pepperdine says: “I feel greatly honoured to be asked to be head judge for the Funny Women comedy writing award this year. I’m so aware of how hard it is for anybody to get a show made at the best of times and I hope this competition might help set a few more brilliant writers haring down the tracks at what is for so many, the worst of times. I can’t wait to read what all you amazing, talented, hardworking and resilient women have created with your deeds AND your words!”

Funny Women Comedy Writing Awards producer Kate Stone says: “I am ridiculously excited to have Vicki Pepperdine involved, it’s wonderful to see successful women in comedy being so generous with their time and support.”

The Comedy Writing Shortlist will be announced on 31st July.
