The V&A are holding a unique evening of museum comedy on 3rd May to celebrate the opening of Laughing Matters: The State of a Nation.
There’s a fantastic line up of comedians who will bring their own unique brands of humour to the V&A to celebrate the new display. Headlined by award-winning comedian and writer Shazia Mirza, the evening will also feature Harriet Braine (Funny Women Stage Award Winner 2016), Naomi Paxton (New Act of the Year, 2018), and more to be announced…
The new display in the British Galleries reflects the role of humour in debates around identity, empire and power over the past 200 years. Through over 30 objects, ranging from costumes to scripts, from puppets to music, this display unpicks the punchlines to discover what humour since the Victorian era – whether subversive, surreal, mocking or celebratory – can tell us about what it means to be British today.
Stand Up at the V&A is on 3rd May at 19:00 – 20:45 at The Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre. For tickets and more information click here!
Laughing Matters will be open at the V&A until 29th March 2020.
