The Leicester Comedy Festival has named writer and comedian Jo Brand a Legend of Comedy at their annual awards show. Festival director Geoff Rowe said: “We were delighted to acknowledge Jo Brand with the Legend of Comedy Award at the ceremony. Her contribution to UK comedy over the years has been incredible and we were thrilled to recognise this.”
Jo Brand joins a host of huge talent previously named legends of comedy, including Victoria Wood, Rik Mayall and Nicholas Parsons.
Vikki Stone and Bec Hill also won accolades at the ceremony, Stone scored Best Improv/Musical Show for her show Song Bird, while Hill’s Treats You Like a Child was awarded Best Kids Show.
