Awkwafina has gone from strength to strength in 2018, the actor, comedian and rapper has enjoyed great roles in Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians in addition to becoming the second ever Asian woman to host Saturday Night Live. Now Awkwafina has signed a deal with Comedy Central for a show based on her life, before she hit the big time.

The 10 part series will take a comedic look at Awkwafina’s early 20s, when she lived in Queens with her father (played by BD Wong) and grandmother (Lori Tan Chinn) and her much more successful cousin (Bowen Yang).

Awkwafina said: “I’ve been watching Comedy Central since I was old enough to hold a remote, and so many of their shows have defined who I am today. I am so honored to be given their platform to tell the story of an Asian American girl against the backdrop of the city I was raised.”

It is not yet known when the show will premiere – so watch this space!
