With their continued recognition of the huge contribution women have made to comedy on the screen and out of it, the BFI is carrying on their celebration of comedy with great events.
Coming up this November you’ll be able to sit and listen to comedy greats talking about their career, their life and all the up and downs inevitably associated.
Tracey Ullman is one of the few to have conquered the screens on both sides of the pond. In this 90 minute conversation, filled with film clips and first-person accounts, you’ll hear her talk about her start in the UK with trailblazing shows such as A Kick Up the Eighties and Girls on Top and her continued overseas success with her satirical creations which have garnered her many awards.
Jo Brand is always fairly described as someone whose comedy has always been uncompromising, shattering the expectations of comedy made by women. With a background in mental health nursing and drawing from her experience in the field, there’s an uncomfortable honesty to her work. You’ll hear her discuss her influences and approach to comedy in a conversation with producer John Lloyd.
