Comedian Amy Schumer was among more than 300 people arrested on Thursday in protest against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by three women, including Christine Blasey Ford.
Capitol Police said they arrested 302 people during the demonstrations. Protesters gathered at the Hart Senate Building atrium after US Capitol Police barricaded the front of the Capitol.
Amy Schumer, alongside her I Feel Pretty co-star Emily Ratajkowski who tweeted: “Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault. Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power”
Amy Schumer stated during the protest: “No matter how this goes, they cannot keep us down. We will win. A vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying women don’t matter.”
In a video shared on Twitter Amy is shown being asked by a police officer if she wants to be arrested, to which the comedian replies: “Yes.”
