Briony Redman is a writer and that’s the premise of her show. What she comes to show us is her writing package, the sci-fi, the murder mystery and the Scandinoir interspersed with all the ads she actually gets paid to write. Or maybe that’s not the reality at all, but all sketches she wrote for her hour long, one woman show.
The comedian plays all the characters in a well-constructed show in which she doesn’t shy away from audience interaction, and improvises in response to what she’s given without missing a beat. There are props, wordplay and a whimsical sense of play throughout the whole piece. The Shyamalan like twists on a well-constructed narrative are also worth a mention.
If you’re looking for a sweet show where you’ll feel welcome and taken care of, or if you want to know which breed of dogs not to trust, this is the show to go to. There are some stabs at current affairs, but the show doesn’t linger on them, making this a feel-good lunch break at your heavily scheduled Edinburgh show run. Oh, and there are some really fun drawing as well!
