We are very proud of our industry connections here at Funny Women so it’s always extra special when a bit of a plan comes together.
For the last two years Lee Griffiths, associate producer for comedy and cabaret at the very marvellous Soho Theatre, has been one of our judges for the Funny Women Awards final. This year is no exception and, not only has Lee agreed to be a judge once again (and we will soon be announcing our full panel of judges), he has also offered us a rather special ‘bonus’ to support the Awards.
Winners of both the Best Show and Stage Awards will be invited to an informal mentoring session with the comedy team at the Soho Theatre to talk about their process for programming shows in Edinburgh and London. This will give our winners an amazing opportunity to build a face to face relationship with Lee and his colleagues at the theatre as they start their career.
Lee is a member of award winning sketch group Late Night Gimp Fight and they have performed all over the world from Edinburgh to Melbourne via Estonia! His television credits include Impractical Jokers for Comedy Central and Channel Five.
As a performer himself, Lee has a wealth of experience and some unique insights that contribute greatly to our judging process for the Stage Award. The additional mentoring for the winner of this award and for Best Show really is the icing on our comedy cake!
