What news events caught the eye of The Tomboy Tirade crew? Co-host of Asia’s biggest and only all-female comedy chat podcast, Raven from the Tomboy Tarts give her ten prickly picks for the month of December.

PRICKLY PICK #1:

Time Magazine called Larry the cat to say that he is going to be named “Cat (Person) of the year like last year but he would have to agree to kill a rat and pose with it in a photo shoot. The Chief Mouser said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!

PRICKLY PICK #2:

The worst part about using a vending machine that accepts bitcoins is that you have just paid £8500 for a Mars bar.

With a royal wedding coming up in Spring, the hottest ticket in town could be Prince Harry’s stag do. A recent poll showed the public wanted a bank holiday in honour of his supposedly legendary bachelor party that is getting a live televised screening on BBC.

Lovelorn and recently single Elon Musk promises his self-driving cars can help you find true love in future. Upon detecting a potential match within a 10 kilometres radius, Telsa ’s artificial intelligence will soon evaluate the possibility of you falling in love before driving you straight to the location of your potential date. No promise of it landing you true love on the first go so get ready to marry three times like the tech maverick to find the ‘one’.

The Federal Communications Commission has just unveiled a new premium FCC Complaint package to fast track any net neutrality complaints, which may be purchased at USD$39.99 per month. “We are fully aware of everyone’s concerns about this important topic. So for a limited period, we are offering Americans expedited access to the FCC office at an amazing offer of USD$29.99 a month. Their filings on the FCC’s “Restoring Internet Freedom” will be moved to the top of the queue,” said FCC Chair Ajit Pai. “For an additional USD$9.99, users may upgrade to FCC Complaint Plus and speak to an actual representative instead.”

Recent studies has shown that the key to immortality is doing housework. Forget that elusive Holy Grail, eternal hell is doing never-ending housework chores.

Recent photos of the Trump White House Christmas Decorations show that it’s not as scary as the memes made them out to be. Though White House doesn’t need any creepy decor to be a legit house of horrors right now.

Comedy Shorts Award Entry Requirements

The deadline for registration for the Comedy Shorts Award has passed.

Funny Women NextUp…Comedy Shorts Award

Are you a budding Director? Producer? Screenwriter? Are you collaborating with friends to make a funny video? Then we are looking for YOU!

If you have a short film or sketch that you think is hilarious, then enter your work for our Comedy Shorts Award to be in with a chance of winning some life-changing support and mentoring from comedy professionals.

WHAT KIND OF FILM ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

A 1- 6 minute film that can take the form of anything comical. It’s a great opportunity to show us your creative flair and have fun!

WHO CAN ENTER?

This award is open to all women filmmakers and content developers. The film must be an original narrative created, produced and devised by a woman, or women, although male cast and crew members are allowed.

ARE THERE ANY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR MY FILM?

Yes – we require all films to be 6 minutes or under, to be entirely original dialogue, to not feature brand logos and most importantly, to only use music with the written consent of the performer and/or publisher either personally or via the PRS system https://www.prsformusic.com/ .

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY FILM?

We will broadcast selected entries on our Funny Women YouTube channel and social media (so keep an eye out) and the top 10 finalists’ films will also hosted on a dedicated Funny Women Comedy Shorts Awards page on our website. We will also broadcast the final 3 entries as part of the grand final night.

HOW IS IT JUDGED?

Films are judged for production, concept, delivery/performance, creativity, writing and overall funniness. The top 10 films are then viewed by an independent judging panel of top television and film industry professionals who will choose one overall winner and two runners up. The final three will be invited to attend the grand final in London on the 23rd September.
