If you’re looking for some female led comedy at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe then you must make sure the Gilded Balloon is on your Edinburgh map! Not only are we running a show, Funny Women Fest, with a different line up every day from 2nd to 28th August at the Gilded Balloon Teviot in aid of Period Poverty, but this venue is playing host to some of the funniest women in comedy!

Australian comedian Bec Hill will be up in the Gilded Balloon Turret, where she all she has planned are the jokes, allowing her audience to pick the order of the show! You can catch Bec Hill: Out of Order from the 2nd-27th (not 15th) August at 17:15.

Fellow Australian Alice Fraser is bringing her show Empire to the Gilded Balloon’s Billiards Room at 22:00 from 2nd-28th (not 14th) August. This show is all about power, quantum physics and Disney villains. It’s a regular venn diagram. Academic, ex-corporate lawyer, writer and critically acclaimed comedian Alice has performed with the Cambridge Footlights and toured the world.

At 23:15 also in the Billiard Room Michelle Brasier and Laura Frew will present Double Denim, a jump-rope-confetti-dance-group-date, full of 90s nostalgia and fuelled by a strong commitment to being very, very silly. It’s a party in your pants and jacket.

With Love, From St Tropez is Shazia Mirza’s follow up from her critically acclaimed 2016 sell-out international tour, The Kardashians Made Me Do It,  this new show is about lies, lies and more lies; the truth is so 1980s. Catch it at 19:30 in the Billiard Room 2nd-28th (not 16th) August!

If it’s truth bombs you’re after then make sure you also catch Tiff Stevenson’s show Bombshell at the Sportsmans at 17:30, from 2nd – 28th August.

In the Turret at 18:30 from 2nd -28th (not 14th) August Gráinne Maguire is hoping to join the trend of celebrities with tricky names (see Joaquin Phoenix, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Osama Bin Laden…) before she’s deported with the other EU immigrants.

We’re excited to see Jan Ravens debut Edinburgh show Difficult Woman, featuring the Dead Ringers star performing her take on Theresa May, Diane Abbot and others in this satirical impressionist show. Jan will be in the Dining Room at 19:00 or 20:15 from the 2nd -27th (not 16th) August.

For more satire check out Ayesha Hazarika’s show State of the Nation on Politics, power and how we lost the plot. Ayesha will be in the Museum – Auditorium at 19:30 from the 14th – 27th August.

You can check out who else is performing at the Gilded Balloon this year here!
