Irish comedy-drama Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope, starring Seána Kerslake and Nika McGuigan, has been snapped up by BBC Three. The show was aired on RTE last year and tells the drink fuelled story of two young women, Aisling and Danielle who live in Dublin.

The BBC describes the show as a “coming-of-age millennial comedy-drama.” Aisling hates change, in fact she would “rather be shot from a cannon than change her routine.” She and Danielle have lived together since college and they enjoy nights out and alcohol fuelled adventures aplenty. They have always looked after each other, but now Danielle is beginning to wish she could break the routine.

Damian Kavanagh, Controller of BBC Three says: “Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope is a laugh-out-loud series and I’m delighted that it’s coming to BBC Three.”

Sue Deeks, Head of Programme Acquisition at the BBC added: “Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope is the perfect mix of humorous, heartfelt performances and fresh, sharp writing that manages to be both laugh-out-loud funny and incredibly poignant. BBC Three viewers will find so much to enjoy in this gem of a series”.

Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope was created by playwright Stefanie Preissner in her first commission for television. Stefanie said: “The opportunity to bring the voice and experience of young Irish women to a larger audience is fantastic. The team on Can’t Cope did an amazing job capturing that voice and I hope that the BBC Three audience love it.”
