Dawn French’s 2011 debut novel A Tiny Bit Marvellous is in the process of being turned into a TV show for ITV. Emma and Beth Kilcoyne, who previously worked with Dawn on the 2010 drama series Roger & Val Have Just Got In, are working on adapting the book about 49 year old Mo’s dysfunctional family into an ITV comedy drama.

A source told the Mirror “Dawn loved working with the [Kilcoyne] twins so much on Roger and Val she thought of them straight away when adapting her debut novel into a series.”

A Tiny Bit Marvellous tells the story of Mo who is coming up to her 50th birthday, her increasingly quiet husband, her daughter Dora who is planning her 18th birthday party and her son, who has changed his name to Oscar in honour of Oscar Wilde. Mo is considering doing something uncharacteristically wild and selfish, but if she does it would rip the family apart.

The source said Dawn probably won’t play Mo in the TV series as she “believes she’s now too old at 59 to play the mother character,” however it’s been speculated Dawn will still appear in the series and we can think of plenty of fabulous actors who would be marvellous in the role!
