The BBC has announced its Christmas programming and we are delighted to see that 2006 Funny Women Awards runner-up Diane Morgan will be reprising her character Philomena Cunk this season!
Philomena will be investigating the real meaning of yuletide’s traditions in Cunk on Christmas. While Charlie Brooker, who introduced the nation to Philomena in his show Weekly Wipe will somehow be cramming everything that has happened in 2016 into one Christmas special 2016 Wipe.
Mary, Paul, Mel and Sue will be tasting some Christmas bakes in The Great Christmas Bake Off, which will be the last ever Bake Off episode on the BBC. Boohoo.
Tamsin Greig will be voicing an animation of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes alongside Dominic West, Rob Brydon and many more.
Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content, says: “We’ve pulled out all the stops this Christmas to bring the nation together with a sparkling line-up of family favourites, brand new treats and festive specials on BBC Television. We are showcasing an unrivalled range of top quality comedy, drama, entertainment, factual and religious programmes across our channels that promise to deliver something for everyone.”
Now, if we can all just keep an eye on some of our nation’s national treasures Christmas 2016 might just be good.
