Are you ready to do the Wonder Woman stance and take your screenwriting career up a gear?

The London Screenwriters’ Festival (known to its pals as the LSF) is running its professional development programme, Talent Campus, for a second year. Supported by Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund, which is funded by the BFI with National Lottery funds through the Skills Investment Fund, the Talent Campus is a 10 day intensive screenwriting course with two months’ mentoring.

You can find out all about the Talent Campus here! The deadline for applications is Tuesday 12th July 2016.

There are only 30 spaces on the course, and competition can be fierce. However, at the LSF we are committed to widening access and levelling the playing field, and we want to encourage as many women to enter as possible.

So how can you improve your odds of getting selected?

Apply Now (HERE)

Yes, we know this is obvious, but do it now or tonight. You may find you need to spend time getting it right and you don’t want to end up rushing as you leave it too late.

Make sure all the basics are 100% correct

You might be surprised how often people supply wrong email addresses, phone numbers etc. It’s around one in 10. Guess which pile they end up on.

Read the guidelines and supply the relevant documents

Make sure you supply what we ask for, and that it’s well presented and professional.

Write with passion and brevity

Convey who you are and why you would be suitable in fewer, more dynamic words. Many people write very long and overly meandering essays which don’t get the results they are seeking.

Stop apologising for your writing and career etc.

This goes beyond Talent Campus. You are a human being. You are creative. You have something to say. YOU ARE AWESOME! We believe in you, so you should too. Kick the self doubts into touch and write from a position of belief. It’s infectious!

Understand who we are looking for

We are not just looking for great projects, we are looking for screenwriters who are ready to be challenged and pushed way outside the comfort zone – because that’s where success lies. Make the application as much about you as it is about your writing.

Think about what you REALLY want

Most of us are so busy on what we think we want that we forget to focus on what we REALLY want. They are two different things. Focus on what’s important and not just what’s in front of you.

Above all, APPLY (HERE). You have to be in it to win it!
