Between writing a new sitcom Going Forward, Jo Brand has completed a 135 mile walk in seven days for Sports ReliefJo raised more than £800,000 for the charity walking from the Humber Bridge to Liverpool, leaving her feet feeling like they have been “lightly blow-torched.”

Speaking to the Telegraph Jo explained she chose walking for charity because: “What I thought about the [previous] challenges was that they all involved young fit people and I thought, why can’t you have an old not-so-fit person and give them a challenge that’s not rowing across the bloody Channel? I think it’s more reflective of what a huge proportion of the population are likely to achieve, because everyone can walk and it does get you quite fit.”

The walk was filmed for the BBC and will be shown this week, where we will see Jo cover nearly 20 miles a day. It seems walking wasn’t the sedate challenge Jo might have imagined, walking along the Pennines she had to contest Storm Jonas. She is also joined by comedian Bill Bailey who entertained with some poetry.
