Our Funny Women founder and CEO Lynne Parker has been shortlisted for the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards sponsored by HSBC, in the ‘SME Business of the Year (Emerging)’ category for London and the South.
Cue the fireworks! Cue the tickertape parade! Someone pass the Prosecco, please! Lynne hasn’t outright won the category… yet… but we’re collectively over the moon.
The awards are run by Forward Ladies – well, we’ve never been shy either – and have been held for the last six years. A total of 142 women with guts and entrepreneurial spirit have been shortlisted in 11 categories this year. There will be regional and national winners, announced at some nice glitzy award ceremonies during the autumn.
For the first time in the awards, both the winners and finalists are receiving support from sponsors. HSBC is the headline sponsor of the Women in Business Awards, and Microsoft is acting as the technology partner. The idea behind the support is to build regional growth for the UK’s economy. We’re hoping to raise plenty of laughter here at Funny Women as well. Our workplace humour programme is well underway!
With the standard of entrants noted as pretty darned high this year, getting our founding mother onto the list of finalists feels like a significant achievement in itself. This could be the most closely contested final yet. It’d be a nail-biter, if we hadn’t all just put a fresh coat of varnish on.
Winners from London and the South will be revealed on Friday 16th October. We can hardly wait.
