Shakespeare. He’s a pretty famous writer dude. But would he be as famous now as he was back in the day with all the legalities and copyright enforcements that come with being a professional comedy writer?
On Saturday 6th June, Funny Women brings you a new comedy writing workshop designed to teach you all about the business side of being a comedy writer and help all those comedy writers out there realise their literary potential. And Funny Women is very privileged to be working alongside the extremely talented Gail Renard who will be leading the workshops.

Gail Renard is a BAFTA award-winning writer and performer. Her work includes various BBC, ITV and C4 comedy and children’s series, as well as books, films, radio and stage plays.
Funny Women asked Gail what she would be covering in the comedy writing workshops (if you miss this one there’s another in December!) and her response was thus:
“I’ll discuss the logistics of script-writing: how to start, where to get your ideas from and what best to avoid. I’ll talk about developing characters — major and minor — as well as various genres and script lengths. I’ll answer all your questions and some you haven’t asked too.”
So there you go! What more could you ask for than all the comedy writing basics covered in a brilliant two hour workshop lead by a BAFTA award-winner and give old Bill a run for his money?!
