2014 wasn’t an amazing year for me, if I’m honest. It started exactly as it meant to go on, with a nasty accident on January 2nd getting the disastrous proceedings swiftly underway. The rest of the year was taken up by money worries, a quadruple heart bypass (Dad’s, not mine), noisy neighbours, poor decisions under the influence of wine, and numerous other annoyances.
This year, I’m going to take a different approach to life. I spent much of last year nervous and afraid of what the future might hold for me, but enough is enough. Ladies (and any men reading), it’s time for me to get serious. It feels pretty scary right now, let me tell you!
One of my 2015 new year resolutions is to finally drag myself on stage and have a proper go at stand-up comedy. When I reviewed the Funny Women Awards in 2014, a few friends nudged me to say “why aren’t you giving that a go?” –
so the gauntlet has been thrown down there.
I’ve told enough people about this plan that I can’t back out of it. Some of them have offered to come down to open mic nights and watch me give it a go. Gulp. Did I say I wasn’t going to be nervous this year? I might take that bit back…
