I have a friend who is obsessed with RuPaul’s Drag Race and all of the sassy gifs it’s spawned on Tumblr. Clearly someone fabulous at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern has the same TV show on the brain, as the venue’s Christmas panto this year is ‘Jack – Sissy That Stalk!’. A clear play on the “sissy that walk!” mantra that became the title of a very pink RuPaul single.

We’d expect nothing less from the oldest surviving gay venue in South London. If you thought panto was a bit camp then get ready for a show more flamboyant than a Christmas tree onesie.

In this year’s extravaganza, featuring 2012 Funny Women Awards finalist and Funny Women Player Lucy Frederick,  our hero Jack is brought up to date as an aspiring YouTube video maker seeking fame and fortune. Can he be the man that Jill needs him to be? Are those real udders on Daisy the cow? And what exactly is Mother Nature wearing in her hair?

Jack – Sissy That Stalk will be running at the RVT on selected days from Wednesday 3rd December to Thursday 8th January. Tickets start at £12, and you can book online now.

Find the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on 372 Kennington Lane, London, SE11 5HY. Nearest Tube/rail station: Vauxhall.
