Stand-up comedian and former rapper, Ben Bailey Smith, aka Doc Brown, is confirmed as Comedy and Spoken Word Curator for NOISE Festival 2014. The multi – talented Londoner is an established act on the comedy circuit, a BAFTA award-winning children’s TV writer, the new co-star of ITV1’s Law and Order UK, and runs his own production company.
Doc will personally rate submissions from undiscovered comedians and spoken word artists made to NOISEFestival.com and has also offered mentorship and career guidance for his top choices; “You upload content to NOISEfestival.com and I am going to rifle through that stuff, the very best I am going to mentor and try and help out, and try and get your career off the ground.”
Carrying his rap guise through to the comedy world, Doc Brown worked his way up into the industry, starting off performing for free to get noticed at comedy nights in London; “Every gig has an open spot, where you can contact the venue and say, look can I come and do five minutes I don’t want any money. If everybody laughs you are getting rebooked. As simple as it sounds that is your very first step and that theory continues all the way up to arenas.”
Brown has since diversified his comedic talent, performing on the song ‘Equality Street’ alongside Ricky Gervais for Comic Relief 2013, and roles in popular TV Shows; including 'The Inbetweeners', 'Rev', and 'Miranda'.
