My Unique Story is a series of talks by remarkable and inspirational women that give either a firsthand account, or an insight into an experience or personal journey. Each conveys a special message that demonstrates how the speaker’s journey has helped her overcome adversity, developed skills, identify opportunities, inspired success or forced a life changing decision!
On Thursday, 15th May 'My Unique Story' will be presented by a remarkable woman who will give an insight into her time in the Royal Air Force as a HCPC registered Paramedic. She has served across the UK, Falkland Islands and Bahrain and seen active service in Iraq and Afghanistan. During her career she has received a Commendation from the RAF, been awarded a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and a ‘frontline rose’ Afghanistan medal for being the first female paramedic on the ground with the RAF Regiment. Tonight she will share with you why she calls herself a ‘survivor’ of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
She is a passionate fundraiser for many charities, most notably MacMillan Cancer Support and Military Charities – and despite her dislike of running, she is currently 913 miles into a 1000 mile running pledge in support of a good friend who lost both legs in Afghanistan in 2013.
This evenings charity of choice (should you wish to donate) is: Combat Stress.
The talk takes place at The Union Jack Club on Sandell Street, Waterloo, London SE1 8UJ and last 1.5-2 hours (including Q&A) arrival drink included in the price. So, why not make a night of it and visit the hotel bar or book a table at the restaurant by calling 02079026000 – make sure you mention 'Purple Tie Promotions'.
