Women are currently taking the comedy circuit by storm, and this line-up sees no exception. Held for the sixth year running, the 'Loving Linda' charity gala honours the memory of a brilliant funny woman, Linda Smith.  Funds raised on the night will go to support Target Ovarian Cancer.

Hosted by the award-winning comedian, writer and actor, Susan Calman (regular panelist on News Quiz), the ever-popular, special gala evening of comedy and music takes place at the Rose Theatre in Kingston-upon-Thames on Sunday 11th May.

Some of comedy’s top performers including, Bridget Christie (2013 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner)and Angela Barnes (winner of BBC New Comedy Award 2011) will take to the stage alongside Mark Thomas, Andy Hamilton and Rory McGrath with Philip Pope in honour of their fellow comedian and friend, Linda SmithJazz musician Ian Shaw will be performing on the night, as will Observer critic and jazz pianist Jay Rayner.

The 'Loving Linda' gala evening is now a regular fixture in the comedy calendar and to date has raised £125,000 for the charity.

Angela Barnes said: “I am delighted to be involved in this event, Linda Smith was my comedy hero, and I doubt I would be doing this job today if it wasn't for her. This wonderful night is the perfect way to celebrate Linda, and to raise awareness of the disease that took her away and left the world a much less funny place”

Mark Thomas said: “Linda was funny, kind and generous, her own woman, but would not suffer fools gladly. Some people said Linda could play the boys at their own comedy game without resorting to being laddish or taking refuge in gags about her menstrual cycle, and they were right too. Linda was the Queen of Incredulity. It was in her voice, in her face and in each gag. She couldn't believe that the world was quite as bad as it was, especially when it could be so brilliant, if only we sorted it out."

'Loving Linda' takes place at the Rose Theatre, Kingston-upon-Thames at 7.00pm on Sunday 11th May.
