We last saw her as 'Chummy' in the hit BBC TV show 'Call the Midwife', and shaking her maracas to get fit. All good preparation for the rigours of life on the road!

Now Miranda Hart is back, live and kicking, and it’s all going to be 'such fun!' After the incredible success her eponymous radio and TV show which made us all laugh in our living rooms the comedian has returned to the stage and has started touring the country.

Now, we don't want to brag, but… we first saw a lot of the material that has become the bedrock of the 'Miranda' sitcom at our first ever Edinburgh Fringe run in 2004.  We coaxed Miranda back again in 2006 to host a run of shows for us at the Assembly Rooms, where we had the privilege of seeing a live 'work in progress' of many of the phrases and ideas featured in the programme.

Miranda said: "I am really excited about going on the road and returning to stand-up. Without the pressure of TV and having cameras in my face, anything could happen – the joy of live theatre. It’s going to be fun. I just hope people want to pop along. Come on people – along you pop. If nothing else it will get you out of the British weather – although I do get sweaty and can’t promise not to cause a little bit of wind.”

The tour called, of course, ‘My What I Call Live Show’ kicked off in Bournemouth and has already won praise. Writing in the Observer, Stephanie Merritt recalls becoming aware of Miranda’s comedy talent at one of the Funny Women gigs at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004!  She says: “in that intimate venue she possessed a formidable stage presence, though her material was unusual in how retro it seemed compared with the prevailing currents of stand up.”

Who would have guessed?  It was the beginning of a comedy phenomena and Funny Women was there!
