As a billion rise today to dance to demand justice and raise awareness for the 1 in 3 women on the planet who are raped or beaten in their life time we are reminded of how important the next female focused event in the calendar is. Which is why we are excited to announce we have a bumper crop of International Women's Day celebrations ahead of us.

We were lucky enough to be invited to be a part of the Visible Women conference at the Knowledge Dock, University of East London. Visible Women is a charity passionate about helping young women and girls smash the glass ceiling. Their goal is to team young women up with inspiring mentors to help them get ahead in male dominated industries. The conference will take place from Thursday 6th of March to  Friday 7th March and there are plenty of exciting talks and activities happening. To find out more and book tickets click HERE.

We will be holding a workshop for those looking to improve their confidence and communication skills with comedy tricks of the trade and stand up techniques. Our executive producer and founder Lynne Parker will be giving a talk on challenging perceptions in comedy: "I am looking forward to sharing my experiences as a comedy producer over the last 11 years, helping women to perform, write and do business with humour. I am passionate about women using their innate sense of humour to communicate and empower themselves to have a memorable voice.”

Continuing our International Women's Day celebrations we will be headed to the Southbank Centre, back for this year's Women of the World (WOW) FestivalWe will be there from Friday 7th of March until Sunday 9th of March with a stall and two comedy workshops, on the Friday and Sunday! Come and say hi and learn more about the Funny Women team and our comedy endeavours – we would love to meet you! We'll also be bringing along a Joke Booth – pick your best pose and come and get your photo taken with your top funny punchline. Or take part in one of the workshops and learn how to make comedy a part of your every day life to improve your confidence skills.
