Got any Valentine's Day plans? Instead of holding out for a cuddly toy holding a heart that says 'I Wuv You' we have some other ideas you might like. How does rising up to fight against violence against women and girls on the day we celebrate love sound? Makes perfect sense to us!
One in three women in the world will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. This equals one billion women. Last year one billion people in 207 different countries took part in the event 'One Billion Rising for Justice' by rising up and dancing to demonstrate the demand to end violence against women and girls.
This Valentine's Day everyone is invited to take part: "ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE is a call to women, men, and youth around the world to gather safely on 14 February 2014 outside places where they are entitled to justice – court houses, police stations, government offices, school administration buildings, work places, sites of environmental injustice, military courts, embassies, places of worship, homes, or simply public gathering places where women deserve to feel safe but too often do not."
