We are, as ever, determined to present you with the best women in comedy and we are welcoming in 2014 with a bumper comedy night on Saturday 25th of January at Brighton Komedia.
Brighton Nights producer Rosie Farrar is very pleased with the first line up of the year: "Never before have I felt so spoilt for choice when it comes to booking new female comedy talent! 2014 is going to be an exciting year – for Komedia, for comedy and for our Funny Women!"
We have award winning comedy from Suzy Bennett, Funny Women Awards Winner 2006, who is our headline act. Suzy has been busy skating her way to minor celebritydom with her show 'Dancing on Thin Ice' which she has taken to Edinburgh and back. Also Suzy has fitted in a MoonWalk for charity and she is one of Lynne Parker's 2014 Ones to Watch.
Funny Women Awards 2012 finalist Lucy Frederick, fresh from her pursuit of being cool is on hosting duties. Lucy will be keeping her fellow Funny Women Player Courtney Cornfield in check. 2013 Awards finalist Bethan Roberts and semi-finalists Mandy Dassa, Georgia Thorp, Jane Postlethwaite and Njambi McGrath are also joining us in Brighton. It will be the Funny Women debut of Brightonian poet-turned-stand-up Annabel Pribelszki.
We're excited for the first Brighton Nights of the year but it is Komedia who are celebrating. 2014 marks the venue's 20th year in Brighton! Rosie believes Funny Women and Komedia make a great match: "Running this night at Komedia is a pleasure for me… The comedians love it and the audience always has a brilliant night too. It's hard to describe the atmosphere to people, the studio bar has such a unique warmth and intimacy about it…. Perfect for comedy and for a great Brighton night out with a difference."
