So – who's feeling the old saying, New Year, new you? Here at Funny Women HQ, we’ve been making our New Years Resolutions, and with loads of brilliant courses and events starting right on our doorstep, we’re feeling inspired to try something new and different.

If January has left you with thespian desires, look no further: renowned drama school The Poor School run a Four Day Course guaranteed to give you the ultimate introduction to stepping onto the stage. It’s been running since 2007, and since then nearly 2,000 people (hopeful actors and those who just want a little more knowledge of the theatre world) have attended. Past participants have included those from their teens to their sixties, and the course caters for all levels of fitness and experience.

If four full days of acting sounds a little daunting, we’ve got exciting news – The Poor School have now introduced a One Week Course, which covers the same content over Monday to Friday evenings and one full Saturday. There is no difference in cost, and both courses cover all the basics of acting training: Voice, Movement, and Singing alongside classes on Shakespeare, Stage Fighting, Jazz and Dialect.

Both the Four Day and One Week courses run throughout the year – a list of upcoming dates can be found on the Poor School’s website.
