Ever wonder what becomes of those who take the Funny Women Challenge? Yesterday at the St James Theatre we were entertained by last year's Funny Women Challenge the Men winner Steven A Williams and the Funny Women Challenge winner Rowan Pelling for the event Trading Places: A Seriously Funny Look at Going Global. An evening held by the University of East London to mark Global Entrepeneurship Week and celebrate the growth of women-led businesses internationally. We couldn't have had a better host than Julia Streets (or was it Boris Johnson?), who is a bit of an entrepeneur herself and kept us laughing with tales of her international business adventures.

We were delighted to be involved in an event so invested in supporting women in business. The event also had the support of Jo Swinson MP, Parlimentary Under Secretary of State for Women and Equalities, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, who commented:

“The Women’s Business Council’s report showed just how important it is, in economic terms, for women to be able to contribute fully in the workforce. There is a sound business case for ensuring this happens and it would be madness to ignore it.

This event is a unique opportunity for women to explore what going global means to them”.

How's that for a ringing endorsement?!

We weren't just celebrating Global Entrepeneurship Week, this was also the launch of our exciting new comedy venture the Funny Women Players!  This hilarious improvisation troupe is made up of some very funny women, Courtney Cornfield, Emma Stroud, Lucy Frederick, Annalea Doyle and Kate Heward.

The business minded audience were treated to the players technique of telling a person's life story (ish) with just a few details and a stage. We were treated to the workings of one audience member's brain as imagined by the players and another audience member's career as a love coach was picked apart on stage in a French accent.

The Funny Women Players are on hand to help your or organisation or business’s story through the exploration of status, body awareness and listening skills. The provided great entertainment last night and we imagine they can make any business event or conference go with an improvised bang! And every show is a total one off because you make the story, and in turn the Funny Women Players make it funny!
