Back in September we announced the winner of our Comedy Writing Award, which received well over 100 entries. Although Cassie Pope took the crown, the sheer standard of entries this year was proof that there’s some very talented writers out there, so it seemed only right to put together a ‘Ones to Watch’ list to celebrate some of the women who impressed us the most with their entries. One name that cropped up on the list was Lisa McMullin, who gave us a hilarious glance into Limbo with Better Off Dead – proving that life after death isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

If you’re as excited as we are by up-and-coming writing talent, Lisa’s new play is premiering at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town next week. Featuring original music by Cerys Hogg, Siren Song is a twisted modern romance set in a failing London jazz bar. As Tom, Kay and Stuart struggle with unrequited love, Henry knows a secret – and he also knows that there are far worse things than a broken heart.

Intrigued? Make sure you visit the theatre’s website HERE to read more, or follow updates from the production on Facebook and Twitter.

You can catch Siren Song from Tuesday 12th – Saturday 17th November at 7.30pm (with an additional Saturday matinee at 3.30pm). For more information and to book tickets, click HERE.
