At Funny Women we are delighted that Bristol based female comedy night What The Frock! is celebrating its first birthday! The brain-child of Jane Duffus, an author, editor, journalist, feminist activist and suffrage historian, for the past year the nights have featured some of the best of female comics, with a focus on non-racist, sexist or homophobic comedy.
Since its inception, What The Frock! has raised more than £500 for Bristol charities, which has been donated to One25 and Confronting Women’s Poverty, worked with some of the funniest females on the comedy circuit and been profiled on BBC Radio Four’s Woman’s Hour.
As part of its first birthday celebrations What the Frock! will be hosting or part of two events on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May in association with Bristol’s Festival of Ideas.
What the Frock!’s first birthday party will feature Viv Groskop, Alice Frick, Charlie Benson and Sophie Johnson, with hosting skills from resident MC Jayde Adams. There will also be cakes and sweets, beauty treatments and a raffle in aid of Bristol women’s charity One25.
