Funny Women first met Kristin Hallenga at the final of the Funny Women Awards in September 2012. Kris had been nominated for the Real Funny Women Award by the editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine, Louise Court, for the inspiring way that she approached both life and business with a cheeky sense of humour. Kris was the worthy winner of the Award, and was warm, funny and self-deprecating. What you would never have guessed simply to look at her is that 27 year old Kris suffers from breast cancer, which has reached stage four. There is no stage five.

Kris has used this devastating news to make it her mission to inspire a new generation of young women to check their breasts. Kris is passionate about promoting early breast cancer detection, and set up charity Coppafeel! in the immediate aftermath of her diagnosis aged just 23.

After having been told by her doctors that the lump she felt in her breast was nothing to worry about, Kris has fought tirelessly to ensure that the same doesn’t happen to other young women in a funny, engaging and positive way. The charity runs campaigns throughout the UK, particularly in universities, and has been hugely successful. The charity’s cheeky campaigns have been supported by celebs such as Fearne Cotton, Dermot O’Leary and the hilarious Chris O’Dowd, whose contribution can be seen below!

At Funny Women we have a long tradition of supporting women’s charities and causes, including cancer charity Race For Life, and we are delighted to be producing ‘Tits and Giggles’ on Tuesday 7th May at the Bloomsbury Theatre as a tribute to Kris’s energy and drive and for winning the Real Funny Women Award. The show is being kindly sponsored by Benefit Cosmetics, with all proceeds going to CoppaFeel. Benefit will also be sending along the Benebabes to bring a touch of glamour to the evening with mini-makeuppers on the night!

Tits and Giggles features a fantastic line-up of talented up-and-coming and established acts. Hugely successful TV star and Edinburgh award winner Russell Kane headlines the night, with hosting skills from Kris Hallenga’s personal favourite and 2006 Funny Women Awards winner Suzy Bennett.

Canadian Mae Martin, as recently seen on Russell Howard’s Good News will join them on the night, and we’re also delighted to be bringing Funny Women Variety Award winner and 2010 Musical Comedy Awards Best Newcomer Sooz Kempner, along with Funny Women Awards 2012 winner Gabby Best as Marijana to the Bloomsbury stage.

The line-up also includes comedy duo That Pair, Show Me The Funny’s Tiffany Stevenson and Ellie Taylor, So You Think You’re Funny 2012 winner Aisling Bea, and Radio 4 Jigsaw star Nat Luurtsema. There’ll be a few more special guests announced soon . So come and join us for a night of Tits and Giggles safe in the knowledge that you’ll be supporting a fantastic cause.
