Tania Edwards has a mesmerising presence, she graces the stage and is quick to identify the crowd she is performing in front of. She starts the set with a comical story about a casting for Tena ladies, giving the audience an insight into the life of a performer with particular attention to ambition.
The set is professional and well executed and deserved to be performed to a much fuller house. There is a certain aloofness that contributes to her act especially when she talks of personal dinner parties with her mother as you feel that you really have been given a slant on the Edwards family life.
Just as you are grateful for any attention from a cat, Edwards has the same quality. Feline comes to mind not only in the narrative but also through her presence. Her piercing blue eyes take in the room and she creates a visual journey with a voice that you cannot quite describe.
She discusses life with Sanjef her boyfriend, Hilary the cat and the unnamed demanding producer. Every day life issues from a middle class perspective interweave in her narrative that is influenced by feline emotions in more than one way. It is her purely individual pursuit of success that gives this act an element of existentialism. A delight to watch, you will not be disappointed.
What Tania talked about: dinner parties, Tena ladies and relationships.
