With the Fringe just around the corner, preparations for the festival have suddenly kicked into a higher gear and the excitement is building rapidly. We have so many fantastic shows and events on offer this year that is hard to keep track of when everything is happening. However, amongst our semi-final shows, presenting lara A king’s first Edinburgh run and our fantastic daily performances from some outstanding female comics, we have one more treat for you to devour!
On Saturday 11th August, from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm, we will be running a FREE comedy workshop at The Melting Pot on Rose Street. Throughout the year, Funny Women puts on some fantastically successful workshops that are often a sell out affair in London. With this in mind, we thought that hosting a workshop in Edinburgh was the perfect opportunity to share what these workshops can offer at the Fringe.
Hosted by Funny Women founder and executive producer Lynne Parker, the workshop is designed to explore how a humorous approach to life can be empowering. Throughout the session, there will be a lot of engagement with different types of exercises that can build your self-confidence and develop communication skills. These exercises will then be used to offer an insight into some of the different techniques that are used in stand-up comedy, which is appropriate at a festival that celebrates comedy!
One of the reasons why we are so excited for the Fringe this year is due to our partnership with Benefit Cosmetics, who will have their Benebus parked beside our venue the Bosco tent in Assembly George Square Gardens to offer lots of goodies and makeovers from the Benebabes! For the workshop, we are extremely luck to have a special guest from Benefit Cosmetics attending in the lovely form of Nina, who will be leading the warm up of the session, which promises to be energetic and great fun!
As the session is being run for FREE places are limited so it is important to reserve yours ASAP in order to avoid disappointment.
