In the world of comedy, August is the most important month. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the world renowned annual extravaganza where comics, both male and female, showcase their talents to a receptive audience. We're looking forward to our eighth visit to the festival with Funny Women at the Fringe. Whilst our preparations at Funny Women are underway, we have also been hosting our Funny Women Awards 2012 at venues such as The Lowry, Salford Quays, and the Leicester Square Theatre, London. So whilst we're gearing up to present our awards, we're very excited that one of our own has been nominated for one too!
Lynne Parker, founder of Funny Women and our Executive Producer has been nominated in the Women’s Champion category of the International Network of Aspiring Women Awards 2012! Lynne has proudly taken Funny Women into its 10th year of giving women in comedy a strong voice, has seen the company grow and some of the best women comedians flourish through the company's support.
The International Network of Aspiring Women Awards was created to celebrate the achievements of women throughout the world. In their fourth year, the Awards are about inspiring women to achieve what they desire in business and corporate life. The Awards recognise those women on the move, those who mobilise others and those who create change.
The criteria for the women nominated in the Women’s Champion category of this prestiguous award are as follows:
This woman will be blazing a trail for other women. She will be a clear and outstanding leader who selflessly supports the cause of other women. She will be championing and improving women's rights in the UK or in the wider field.
We are really proud of and excited for Lynne and would like to wish her the best of luck.
The list of nominees is due to be shortlisted in September. However, to find out more information, click HERE.
