As this is our 10th year of running the Funny Women Awards, it’s reassuring to know that the changes we’ve made and the hard work we put into organising the heats and the new look semi-final tour this year, are being appreciated by the women who have entered so far.

The reward for us is in the fact that we’ve seen some brilliant new talent already this year – from Dublin to Manchester to Brighton and, of course, London.  We’re more than happy to travel to where you are if there are enough acts to create a show – the Funny Women Awards are not just a competition, they are also about making connections, getting feedback and a chance to work with other likeminded women in a friendly supportive environment.

If you don’t believe us, here are some of the lovely comments we've had from entrants over the last few weeks.

“Dear Funny Women Team, I wanted to thank you for such a great night of comedy and such a lovely atmosphere! I wish they were all like that!!”

Annabel Heaney

“Firstly let me say how much I really enjoyed the evening and how much I liked meeting everyone. Funny Women is a great idea and I am very happy to be part of it in any way.”

Victoria Pearson

“I enjoyed myself thoroughly last night and felt (weird bit coming up) almost invincible for a short while after I finished. I haven't felt that way since I was 25 (many, many moons ago) and the evening was a real treasure, just for that.

“I wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you because if you hadn't been so encouraging at the workshop I would have chickened out totally and never gone to the heats. And then I would have thought feeling invincible was a thing of the past.”

Sindhu Horderis

“We had a great time on Saturday night, it feels great to have popped my stand-up cherry!”

Melanie Ramsey

“I thoroughly enjoyed my first stand up at the heat on Wednesday night (despite a few wobbles of course) And after not knowing where I belong for so many years, I now feel that I'm slap bang where I want to be. With all of you.

“I know that lots of you have now registered for the Awards – WELL DONE! And please believe me when I tell you, that the fabulous Funny Women team will look after you, you will be fantastic on stage and the audience will be with you every step of the way. It was one of the best days of my life – and it will be for you too.”

Dawn Coxwell

“Thank you for the amazing opportunity last night I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!!And for my benefit make up too!”

Hannah Cramer

If you haven’t registered yet, please do so HERE.  If you are based in Scotland we have a first round heat in Edinburgh this coming Thursday 17th May and we need your entry NOW!

We’re already busy organising extra London heats so that we can accommodate more entries.  Everybody who enters gets our fab free gifts from our Main Award sponsor, Benefit Cosmetics too!  A lovely glossy finish to what will surely inspire you to perform again and again!
