It seems our favorite seaside town is fast becoming our second home. After a successful Brighton Awards heat on Saturday, we’re back again this coming weekend on Sunday 6th May for the Brighton Festival Fringe 2012 where some special Funny Women events are taking place.

We’re excited to once again be returning to the Brighton Festival Fringe in which Funny Women has proved a popular choice for Festival goers in the past. We’ll be holding an afternoon workshop and topping it off with a bumper showcase in the evening.

Our celebrations kick off with an Introductory workshop at 3.00pm. This is in support of local charity Rise which supports women, children, young people and families affected by domestic violence in Brighton & Hove and West Sussex. This workshop will take place on the Rise premises, Garton House. Our introductory workshops take place in a relaxed, informal environment and are great fun to do with friends and ideal for anyone who is thinking of entering this year’s Funny Women Awards but would like some helpful tips and pointers.

Our special showcase will take place in the evening at Brighton Komedia and we have our very own ‘hugely talented divine diva’ Sajeela Kershi playing host for the evening. This showcase is also in support of rise. Making an appearance in our big line up we have Up the Creek one to Watch Finalist Lucy Frederick, razor sharp wit from Claire Parker , Award Winning American stand up Taylor Glenn, Funny Women 2012 Finalist Lindsay Sharman, fantastic musical comedy from Kate Lucas and refreshing and inventive clean comedy from Joy Carter. Joy is also our special guest booker for the next London Nights showcase at the end of May, so see her here first! Further information on the line up can be found here.

So let us 'Brighton' up your Sunday with some fantastic comedy by the sea. If past years at the Brighton Festival Fringe are anything to go by, pre-booking is advisable!
