I’ve spent a great deal of my professional life being called ‘Lynne Franks’ which is quite hard to live up to! We’ve both had careers in public relations but Lynne has by far made the biggest impression, by building up and selling a hugely successful business and as the iconic template for the eponymous Edina character in Jennifer Saunders’s 'Ab Fab'.
My biggest achievement as a public relations professional was to be the president of Women in PR for two years, some 10 years ago before I embarked on this new ‘career’ in comedy, after 25 years spent in and out of consultancy roles and running my own PR business.
What the more famous Lynne and I now share is to campaign for women’s empowerment – Lynne through her brilliant social media community Seed, and her growing chain of women’s business clubs, B.Hive, and myself through Funny Women’s growing roster of comedy and business events.
Lynne has always been a torchbearer for women’s working rights, and ethical business and the latest manifestation of this is an online survey with WinkBall, which specialises in capturing people's passion using the emotional power of video.
Winkball spoke to Lynne at her flagship B.Hive business club in Covent Garden, London. She explains about the SEED and B.Hive initiatives, and how they can connect with International Women’s Day. Lynne was also asked about women in business; her thoughts, advice and visions for the future.
We are delighted that Lynne and her networks are supporting our Funny Women Charity Challenge event on Thursday 8th March 2012. Winkball also spoke to members of B.HIVE and women around Covent Garden and Carnaby Street in Central London, about their views on women in business, their inspiration and their dream career. See if you can spot me on the wall!!! The ‘other Lynne’ that is!
