Keeping Comedy Live

There’s nothing like a good laugh and it’s even better when it’s shared with friends.  In this age when everything is served up to us virtually – on television, on our phones, on our computers – it’s great to actually experience the joy of live performances.

The music industry is way ahead of us on this one – having realised that you can’t make a buck out of selling vinyl any more, the live gig and the big tour is the best way for acts to cash in.  Big name comedians are following suit and the likes of Peter Kay, Jimmy Carr and Alan Carr are old hands at filling theatres and arenas.  No doubt we’ll be seeing the same from Sarah Millican soon too, given her recent awards and enhanced television presence, and some of the other hot new female talent that’s breaking comedy ground across the UK this year.

The live tour is now a vital part of the alchemy that makes you a ‘best seller’ with book sales and DVDs bringing in some extra pounds to supplement the box office percentage. So, where do you go to see the best new female acts just before they hit the big time?

We’ve spent the last 10 years giving women a platform for their not inconsiderable comic talents and now we have the luxury of two fantastic regular nights in London at the Leicester Square Theatre and Brighton at Komedia.  We strive to mix it up – some old and some new – and this year we are revisiting some of the brilliant acts we’ve promoted through the Funny Women Awards over the last 10 years and beyond.

Not everybody feels comfortable competing so the London and Brighton Nights are our opportunity to showcase acts who are already too well established to enter a new act competition, or those who prefer just to gig.  So come and see what’s in store at the first of our London Nights HERE this Friday 27th January and Brighton Nights HERE on Saturday 11th February.  Plus we’ll be celebrating our 10th Anniversary in style with some great comedy with a few drinks and nibbles at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival HERE on Wednesday 15th February.

We’re keeping ticket prices to £10 for our regular shows to make our particular brand of comedy accessible to all. So if you love a night out, and love to laugh too, catch the best new comedy live before it’s condensed to a small screen or an expensive arena ticket.
