The women's editor of the Guardian newspaper, Jane Martinson, has joined the prestigious panel of judges for this year's charity final of the Funny Women Awards on Monday 26th September at the Leicester Square Theatre.
Jane read English at Cambridge and attended City University's journalism school before starting her career at the South Wales Echo in Cardiff. She worked at the Financial Times before joining the Guardian in May 1999 as Wall Street correspondent and went on to become the media editor before taking up the role of women's editor in November 2010.
'The Awards has always attracted a high calibre of judges but this year we want to really broaden the appeal of female comedy and widen our audience potential,' explains Lynne Parker, executive producer of Funny Women. 'Jane's involvement is fantastic as the Guardian has been very supportive of our aims over the last nine years.'
