Are you a technological genius who lacks social skills and confidence? Are you happy as long as you don't have to actually speak to anybody and prefer to communicate via email, text or social networks? If the world's power supply went down tomorrow, would you survive?!
It's a sad fact that as we become increasingly immersed in our virtual worlds, we lose the confidence and verbal dexterity to communicate. Yet, to get on in this world, we do need to speak to each other face to face. A new book out this week says that men 'dual', and women 'duet' in terms of talking. This means that we are often better listeners and empathise more than our male counterparts, but if you want to get on in business some ability to 'dual' is a good thing. Learning to use humour really helps because people remember you if you're funny.
We're running a special Stand Up to Stand Out workshop with Women in Technology on Wednesday 7th September which will focus on how to use humour to communicate in the workplace. These skills are transferable too and will help with writers block, presentation skills and being more relaxed socially.
Places are limited and there are just a few places left so BOOK NOW to avoid disappointment.
This course will be facilitated by Lynne Parker, founder and executive producer of Funny Women.
