We're on home territory this coming Sunday in more ways than one. We're bringing the next heat of this year's Funny Women Awards back to one of our favourite venues, the Orange Tree Theatre, in our home town of Richmond upon Thames and proceeds from the show will go towards supporting locally based charity The Victoria Foundation, which was set up to improve the lives of those in the area.
It is very much a 'home grown' effort as we share office space with The Victoria Foundation and are much indebted to the support of chief executive Graham Ball and development director Lorna Votier who really support our ethos and help us to promote our shows in Richmond. Funds raised from the show on Sunday 3rd July will go towards the charity's Special Wheels Appeal to help provide a fully accessible and much needed 15 seat mini bus for people in the local community who are unable to use conventional transport.
This Sunday's show will be hosted by the utterly butterly Suzy Bennett with her Devonshire charm and 'top tips' – fresh from live performances at last weekend's Richmond Race for Life events in Old Deer Park. Suzy is joined by comedic songstress Clare Lomas who competed in the same Richmond heat at the Orange Tree Theatre last year and earned herself a coveted place in the final of the 2010 Funny Women Awards. You might be seeing some of this year's best new talent before it hits the circuit.
So, a great night out is in store – book ahead to avoid disappointment HERE and there will also be an amazing raffle for some brilliant prizes donated by local businesses too.
