You’re fired!

Funny Women is working with Felicity Jackson, the founder of Surviving Actors.  We will be running our Manchester heat of the Funny Women Awards as part of a brilliant free convention on Saturday 23rd July.  However, if Felicity looks familiar to you then you probably saw her being fired in the fourth week of this year’s series of The Apprentice.

Felicity's entrepreneurial spirit led her to set up Surviving Actors, (without the help of Lord Sugar!) which runs free conventions for professional actors throughout the year focusing on three key areas: developing, sustaining and creating. Each convention features exhibitors from carefully selected companies, as well as seminars and workshops throughout the day which benefit the jobbing actor.

Funny Women took some time out to talk to Felicity about her experience at the sharp end of Lord Sugar’s very pointy finger…

What will you take away from your time as one of Lord Sugar’s Apprentices?

The Apprentice was a surreal and crazy experience for me! I walked out of the first board room with no concept of what Lord Sugar had said as all I could think was "I'm standing opposite Lord Sugar! Don't giggle!" After a couple of times standing in front of him, I soon calmed down and started taking in his instructions – thankfully before I got fired… otherwise that could have been very embarrassing!

Q

What was your most memorable experience?

A

One of my favourite days was the "Ampi Apps" day – we spent so long doing heaps of market research outside only to find out that practically everything we had thought of couldn't be done as we only had 24 hours! It was great fun though and it was interesting to see the team's creative side come out!

Q

What was it like being in the house?  It’s just down the road from our offices here in Richmond!

A

The whole house experience was just like being at boarding school and sharing a room with your friends… of course later I realised that making too many friends is not the best strategy! The boys were always stealing the iron, even though there was supposed to be one for the girls, and one for the boys… however that made me feel right at home as my boyfriend spends about an hour ironing his shirt every night!

Q

Did you like being driven around everywhere and did you get noticed by the public?

A

The big cars are a bit of a nightmare because the doors are automatic so you are rushing to get in and try and grab the door and I ended up jamming it about a few times! The driver was not impressed!
