I’m having a little break at my mum's this week.  It's lovely to be in the peace and quiet of Plymouth (compared to London anyway) and spending time with the family. My little niece stayed over at the weekend, so that was fun.

I'm still trying to battle the bulge and although I went a little off the JanePlan at the weekend we did go for a nice swim at the local pool. It was all going well until a woman emerged from the changing room with same bright orange flowery cossie as me…I ducked my shoulders under the water and almost got away with it until a certain eight-year-old announced, 'AUNTIE SUZY, THAT LADY HAS THE SAME COSTUME AS YOU!' That was when I broke my personal best swimming underwater record!

Part of the reason for being home this week is that Race For Life is being held at Plymouth Hoe this Sunday 19th June. As part of my tour with Funny Women I am going to do a little performance on stage during the warm up. This is a special event for me as my family will be there taking part, as they do every year in memory of Sulina, and Mum is even making me a new tutu just for this occasion! Any excuse to dress up…why not?!

I was interviewed for a piece in the Plymouth Herald newspaper talking about Race For Life plus a bit about myself. This made me very proud. Over the years I have appeared in different guises in the Herald: when I was tiny majorette, my amateur theatre days, my Butlins Redcoat debut, and when I appeared with Jimmy Carr at the local arena. The photographer came to take some recent pictures, so I donned my pink t-shirt and posed with my Race For Life medals in Mum’s back garden. Sadly, a touch of hayfever played havoc with my carefully applied eyeliner! The pictures and article will run this Saturday, the day before the race. Mum is so proud!

I’ll be swimming again later and looking forward to a night in watching the soaps…I've been getting emotionally involved with recent Corrie storylines. Don't get me started on Graeme dumping gorgeous Tina! I know it isn't real, but it does make me wonder if there’s hope for the rest of us single ladies.

One single lady I do admire is Plymouth 'maid' Dawn French – she's looking amazing lately. She has always been super confident but her recent weight loss obviously agrees with her and she is rumoured to have a new suitor…..as Mum said to me recently, 'That Lenny Henry is available now…and he can get you the best room at Premier Inn.' Thanks Mum, will bear that in mind! Until then, onwards and upwards. Have a good week!
