The Addidi Inspiration Awards celebrate inspirational women in history – this year has a special focus on women who are 'full of life' inspirational women who manage to lead amazing lives and achieve success while living life to the full and with a sense of fun. Women who continue to inspire us and make us smile! Very much after our own hearts here at Funny Women.

Funny Women frequently works with two of the modern-day women championing nominees from the past. 'Lady Val' Corbett is Director of the Hoxton Apprentice, a restaurant training long-term unemployed young people, and Associate Director of Training For Life, the charity which runs Apprentice restaurants. She is also a journalist, presenter, producer and writer. She is championing singer Marie Lloyd, queen of the music hall.

Marie scandalised respectable society with her rebellious attitude, a string of love affairs and her ability to add lewdness to the most innocent of lyrics. Marie's most famous songs included 'My Old Man Said, Follow the Van' and her theme song 'A Little of What You Fancy Does You Good'. We're interested to know what our lovely Lady Val fancies and we'll enjoy singing (?) along with her on the night!

Hela Wozinak Kay is the co-founder of Sister Snog, a selective business club that attracts and connects an eclectic mix of smart, savvy business women. Entrepreneurs. Empire builders. Movers and shakers who share a common make-up and mindset, a sense of adventure and a hint of humour.

Hela is championing pioneering English aviator Amy Johnston. Flying solo or with her husband, Jim Mollison, Amy set numerous long-distance records during the 1930s including the first women to fly solo to Australia. She flew in the WW2 as a part of the Air Transport Auxiliary(ATA) where she died during a ferry flight. Hela is not averse to flying high herself (metaphorically speaking – she's given up the drugs!) so she's a great adversary for Val.  May the contest commence!
